Partly because it lacks any sense of customer service. And partly because interactions with providers tend to be anxiety inducing and paternalistic (to put it nicely).
We call the people who use our health centers “members.” Sometimes they’re patients, but not always. Patients are sick. Sometimes they’re students. We devote a lot of effort to education.
But member seems to be the best word to describe them.
When they engage a LeadHealth center, they join a community of people on a quest to own and manage their own health.
The team of professionals at the center is part of the same community. LeadHealth physicians understand that they’re the experts in health. But they recognize that you are the expert in you. And together, you can achieve something great.
